Do you remember the original Achilles slot game? If so, you can find that online at plenty of casinos. You might also see Achilles Deluxe at those same casinos, as this is a follow up to that game. It’s not a proper sequel – you don’t need to play the first one to understand what’s happening here – but it does improve on the original. That’s why we think the Deluxe name is a sensible choice to go with the Achilles part of the title. Let’s see what else we can expect from the game.
Have you worked out the developer name yet?
The original Achilles slot was a successful game from RTG, otherwise termed as Realtime Gaming. This sequel is another of their games, building on the first one to bring us a real deluxe version.
Demo details for the new game
There is a demo available, so if you try that first, you can see how it works and whether there are similarities with the first one.
No change to the theme
No – we knew there wouldn’t be, given the title. Achilles was involved with Troy and the attempt to get a Trojan horse through the gates. There are no changes in that regard – it’s more the look of the game that gets an overhaul.
A superb design improvement
If you know what the first Achilles slot looked like, you’ll know that while it did look good, the developers can improve it in many ways. There are sharper graphics to appreciate here, and the characters all look much better than they originally did. Instead of basic details, we get almost photographic quality ones. It seems far richer in color too.
Let’s play Achilles Deluxe
There are no surprises with the format – we get five reels to spin and three symbol land on each when the spinning stops. We also have two jackpots – both progressives – and you can watch their progress during play.
We have a wild symbol to look for on the reels. It is shown as a W inside a circle. It
doesn’t replace the scattered game logo, but you’re fine to use it for subbing other symbols.
Paylines in Achilles Deluxe
This game has a decent quantity, with 20 lines in play in total.
Are you ready to place some bets?
You can play the demo to sort through the coins, which we think is the ideal way to look at what’s available. The cheapest is worth a penny, qualifying this as a penny slot if you want to play it like that. There are pricier coins available too.
A scrolling paytable appears in the game
RTG did use paytables with separate pages to go through, but here they’ve got their new scrolling paytable in play. This means you can go down the various sections in your own time, before playing the game.
Does the game offer any bonuses?
Unfortunately, this is one area where we cannot reveal anything, because there are no bonuses available.
Free spins do appear though… in two formats
You may recall the first game having two spin rounds as well, so we are delighted to see the features return here.
The first way to go through to some spins is by finding three scattered logos in view. These will give you 10 spins with a 2x boost for any prizes you find during them. Better still is the fact that you’re able to find more freebies as you play the first set. You can do so again with three scattered logos, but you’ll manage the same outcome with two logos and a wild as well.
So, if the scatter triggers the first lot of free games, how do you get to the second batch? Easy – find three wilds anywhere on the screen inside the base game. Instead of getting a set quantity, you’re asked to choose one of the triggering wilds. You’re assured of 15 spins, but you could also receive 20 or 25, depending on the wild you pick. There is a multiplier in store whatever happens – and this time it is worth 3x the usual prize amounts.
While the standard base game wilds don’t replace scatters, the ones appearing in the second free spin feature do.
No firm RTP figure available
That’s the case for the first Achilles slot too – and for all other slots in the RTG range.
Does this beat the first game?
We’ve got an excellent rating for this one, giving it 8.5 points out of 10 this time around. We do believe it is better than the first game, although there are still many appealing features to note in that one.
The progressive jackpots are the best prizes around
Isn’t that always true? It certainly is here, and while one is always bigger than the other, any player would be delighted to walk away with one of those. It looks like they’ve both got random triggers too.
Demo action is the ideal way to begin
Achilles Deluxe certainly lives up to that name. It makes sense to take it for a few spins before you do anything else in case you don’t enjoy it as much as we did. But we think you will…
All good RTG casinos have the real version
And you may want to switch to that once you’ve got an account ready and funded.
Mobile access supplied
All Android and iOS users should find they can access the game at the mobile casinos based on the RTG brand and software.
